District Camp Cancelled

Image
By Fiona Burrow - District Commissioner ⚜ We have decided to cancel the District Camp on August Bank Holiday weekend due to the delay in restrictions being removed.  Currently only a maximum of 30 people can attend an overnight camp and 99 people on an event with no camping involved.  Sadly, we think it is unlikely that restrictions will be removed with sufficient time for us to organise and run the camp. We will look for a suitable opportunity to reorganise and be in touch once this is agreed.

Remembrance Sunday

Image
By Fiona Burrows - District Commissioner. Join the rest of the District, and others across the County, to mark Remembrance Sunday, in a slightly different way to usual. Once again we are back in lockdown and no face to face Scouting can currently be carried out including attending Remembrance Day events as Scouts and Scouters. Earlier this year, members across the District and County took part in the #ScoutsClapForCarers to mark St George’s Day. We thought it would be fantastic to try and do something similar which would help us reflect and remember members of our nations Armed Forces. We are encouraging Rushcliffe members and their families, both young and old, to wear their Uniforms and to stand on their doorsteps holding their own 2 minute silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday. Prior to this, there will be a Remembrance Sunday video premiering on our YouTube Channel at 10.45 (link will be posted soon). 1st Keyworth Scouts – Virkey Trot Scout Relay Challenge & Badge Design

Image
By 1st Keyworth. 1st Keyworth Scout Group would like to invite you to our Virkey Trot challenge. For over 30 years, in December, we have organised a half-marathon (the Turkey Trot) around the surrounding villages of Keyworth to raise funds for the group. Unsurprisingly this year we had to make the disappointing decision to cancel the race. In its place we will be staging a virtual half-marathon for runners. Alongside this we would like to challenge scout groups to their own virtual run.   For scouts and explorers this will be a half-marathon.   For beavers and cubs this will be 5K. Each respective race will take on a relay format; there is no restriction to the number of young people that can take part in the relay. The participation rules can be found detailed below.   To mark the Scout virtual Virkey trot challenge a badge will be available for those participants that that have registered and paid the appropriate fee. In parallel with the virtual race we are askin...
